Tail gut is used to attach the tailpiece on to instruments of the violin family, and some viols. The tailgut in the range of diameters from 1.90mm to 2.20mm, those diameters appropriate for violin and violas, come in a 42" length, and will be enough length for eight or nine tailguts. The lengths are available in natural color. The tailgut in the range of 3.00mm - 3.20mm is appropriate for cello sized instruments and is available in a 12" single length. The tailgut in the range of 5.00mm - 5.20mm is intended for use large viols, such as the violone, and the contra bass and is available in a 16" length.
